THE
CHALLENGES:
We, along with other reputable breeders have experienced
a terribly high cull rate in the dogs we have imported, now over fifty
percent of imports have failed to meet responsible breeding standards.
Far too many Boerboels fail to measure up, suffering from many of the
maladies common to large breeds. While not exclusive to Boerboels, structural
and health related risks are rampant, among them Hip Dysplasia, V. Prolapse,
and overall poor structure. We feel that objective standards need to be
met by breeding stock to determine breed suitability. Lack of objective
criteria, politics, and soaring popularity, are creating problematic concerns
for the future of this breed. Many Boerboel breeders are springing up
to meet the market demands, both here and abroad, and many of these breeders
have no system in place, and no experience, to determine the suitability
of the individual dog to become a breeder.
MEETING
THE CHALLENGE:
There is no easy solution to the market driven spectacle that the Boerboel
breed finds itself in. We do offer our own ideas to help offset the genetic
and physical weaknesses that now occur in the breed and plague many new
owners.
In an effort to curb these heritable problems, we are offering a bold
solution, we want to make available older, pre-evaluated, PennHIP tested
pups with basic to moderate training to those who want an excellent started
dog with minimal chance of later disappointment. This age group will be
highly socialized, and will move into your situation with confidence.
We will be glad to customize your pup's activities to match the end use
training you have in mind.
