Topeka - Dornwood Park Trail

Trail Usage: Hiking, Biking

Trail Coordinator:
Tom Travis

The seven mile Dornwood Park Trail is located in southeast Topeka and is accessable from a trailhead on SE 25th Street, east of California Avenue.  The trails meander along Deer Creek in heavily forested, rolling terrain.   Near the trailhead the remnants of old stone dairy buildings can be seen.   On the south side of the park, trails also wind through wide open prairie grasses.  On the northwest side of the park the trail rolls along high banks above Deer Creek.

The single track trails are presently being redesigned and new sections are currently under construction.  We appreciate your patience as we expand and improve the trail system.  If you are interested in working on the trails, please check our calendar page for more information.  Regular monthly trail workdays are scheduled for the 4th Saturday of the month, weather permitting.   Volunteers meet at the trailhead parking lot on SE 25th Street at 9 AM and usually work until around noon.  We supply all the tools and equipment needed.  Contact the trail coordinator to obtain more information.
