Our Mission
The philosophy of Christian education
comes from the Bible. "Train a child in the way he
should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it."
Proverbs 22:6. Providing the solid foundation for
this Christian education is a three-fold
responsibility--home, church, and school.
Zion Lutheran Congregation recognizes
that the prime responsibility for training children
rests with the parents. Parents begin and nurture
this training by regularly and faithfully attending
worship and Sunday School, and participating in family
devotions, Bible study, and prayer.
Zion Lutheran Church has developed an
effective ministry to support and nurture spiritual
growth. Worship, the sacraments, and Bible study
are a vital part of our program for the edification of
the entire family. Paul writes in Ephesians 4:16,
"From Him, the whole body, joined and held together by
every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in
love."
To help parents provide a Christian
education for their children, Zion Lutheran Church
maintains a Christian Day School. Our Christian
education program includes religious lessons, devotions,
and worship experiences. It is the all-day
Christian setting that gives the children the
opportunity to practice their Christianity while
developing thinking and academic skills, knowledge, and
communication tools.
Zion Lutheran Church established this
Christian Day School in 1898. It did not begin,
nor does it operate the school to be in competition with
the public school; rather, we work closely with the
public school and the community. The school was
established and continues because we are convinced that
Christian training is best done in the home, church, and
school. At Zion Lutheran School, Christ is the
center of all that we do. We pray that God will
continue to strengthen and preserve this Christ-centered
approach to education.

Chapel
Chapel Services are held every Wednesday from 8:15 a.m.
to 9:00 a.m. Special offerings are taken for mission
projects throughout the year. Parents are welcome and
encouraged to attend our chapel services.
Chapel Dress Code
Dress for chapel day is expected to be at a standard
higher than for other school days, to reflect the
reverence and respect God commands when we gather for
worship. This simple act does not earn any special
merit with God, but it does teach His children that He
deserves our best. Therefore, on chapel days, shorts,
sweats or jogging suits, sweatshirts, and T-shirts are
not to be worn. Appropriate dress for young men is
pants or nice jeans and a sweater or a collared shirt
neatly tucked in. Appropriate dress for young ladies is
a skirt, pants, or nice jeans with a collared shirt,
sweater, or blouse, or a modest dress. |

be able to operate if it weren't for our many

helping hammer out the kitchen/lunch room project, to
tutoring students in the afternoon, our volunteers lend
their talents in a variety of ways. Please
contact us if

School Functions and Special
Events
You show your support for our school
and our students by attending sporting events, science
fairs, and talent shows. By attending these
events, you are not only giving a special cheer for our
students, but you are also showing the importance of
Christian education to the community.
We also hold several fundraising
events through the year. These events help to
raise the money needed for our mission and also provide
Christian fellowship and fun. Please bring your
friends, neighbors, and coworkers to these events so
they may experience this special fellowship and learn
further of our mission.

Lutherans, will match policyholder gifts to the school
according to their guidelines. Check with your

Memorials and Special

You may consider making a gift to the school in honor of
a relative or friend, or in honor of special occasions
such as birthdays, anniversaries, or holidays.
Tuition Assistance Program:
Zion Lutheran School does not wish to deny a Christian
education to those who desire it. Many supporters
of the School contribute to the Tuition Assistance Fund
in order to help those parents who are committed to a
Christian education for their children but are stretched
by tuition requirements. Should you wish to lend
your support through tuition assistance, please
contact the school
office.
