Parent-Teacher League
The Parent-Teacher League meets the second Tuesday of November, January, March, and May. The meeting time is 6:00 p.m. and most meetings are held in the school auditorium. This organization enhances school spirit, organizes fundraisers, and strengthens our entire program. We ask parents to attend all meetings and play an active role in this organization for the benefit of Zion Lutheran School.
Tuesday, August 19, 2008 The Parent – Teacher League met in the school auditorium for a meeting and chili dog dinner with the free will donation going towards the 7th and 8th grade class. There were approximately 90 parents, students, teachers, and staff members present. Pastor led the meeting with devotions “Why send your children to a Lutheran School?” Lisa Schwenker, PTL President, welcomed everyone and introduced the PLT Board and PTL Advisory Board members. Lisa announced that we made $2200 from the fireworks stand this summer and thanked everyone for their help with the set up, the running and the tearing down. PTL handbooks are printed and will be sent home with the youngest school age child. Check the backpacks to get yours!! Amy Burnett let us know that she had raffle tickets for the German Flag colored quilt to raise money for Germanfest. They are $1 each or 6 for $5. Prizes will be awarded to the top 3 sellers. If you have more than one child in the school their sales will be combined and considered to be 1 child. PTL will be sponsoring a snack tent on October 4th for the Germanfest. It will run from 11am – 11pm – sign-up sheets will be sent out later. Mrs. Oldenettel let us know that enrollment is up by 13 students from last year. She also thanked all the summer helpers who helped get the school back in shape for the new school year. The upstairs library was painted, a safety mat was put around the merry go round, and wood chips were spread underneath the play area. Mrs. Oldenettel also thanked the PTL for their contributions to the KSHSAA as we have 4 students participating in Middle School sports programs, Greenbush, United Streaming which allows the teachers to download 3-4 min clips of movies to see if they can be used in the classroom, various teacher supplies, and the furniture and database system for the upstairs library.
