Mrs. Dawn Oldenettel

Seventh- and Eighth-Grade Teacher and Principal

Mrs. Dawn Oldenettel serves as Principal and 7th and 8th grade teacher at Zion Lutheran School. She holds a B.A. degree in Classics, with emphasis in Ancient Greek and a minor in Spanish from San Diego State University and a B.S. degree in Education from Concordia University at Seward, Nebraska. She completed her Master of Science degree in Educational Leadership at Pittsburg State University in 2005. She has taught Kindergarten through High School and was an adjunct English instructor for Independence Community College. Mrs. Oldenettel has been at Zion Lutheran School for 14 years, and has served as principal for eight years.

Pastor and Dawn moved to Independence in 1993. They have 3 children: Heather Kingery, married this summer and an adaptive physical education teacher in Springfield, Missouri; Daniel, a senior at Missouri Southern State University; and Josh, a junior at Missouri State University.

Mrs. Oldenettel enjoys traveling, reading, and learning. She gives praise to God for allowing her the opportunity to share Christ with her students and their families on a daily basis.
