Recently the Washington Rotary Club played host to a five member GSE team from Bolivia. The experience was super as we became very close to a great group of fellow Rotarians from Bolivia. To see the team members and photos of the exchange, follow this link. Bolivia Group Study Exchange
For many years, the club has furnished equipment, paid umpires, recruited coaches and organized and ran tournaments. The club continues to support the programs with equipment, umpires and other funds. A past club project was buying a pitching machine and constructing a metal batting cage for use by all city teams.
In July 2001, the club will hold the Pee Wee league tourney on the 4th through the 8th. Rotarians will gate keep, manage the field, score keep, announce the game and maybe even umpire. The proceeds from the tourney will fund the Pee Wee ball account. Equipment for T-Ball, Coach-Pitch and Pee Wee boys teams is purchased from this fund. The club will provide metals and ribbons to the first four place teams in the double elimination tourney.

The Club takes over KCLY for a fun filled day of Rotary. Members control the airwaves and promote our local community. Proceeds go toward our projects and donations over the up coming year. The profits from the 2001 Radio Days went to the Washington Library and the Washington County Food Pantry.
Each Christmas, our club sponsors a Festival of Trees contest. Organizations, groups or individual donate a decorated tree to be auctioned for a local charity. Three prizes are awarded for the People's Choice, the Mayor's Choice and the local Charity's Choice. The trees are auctioned to the highest bidder with all the proceeds going to the designated charity. Past charities helped have been the Washington Playground project, Kansas Specialty Dog Service, the Washington County Hospital and in 2001, the Washington Fire Departments. The photos that follow show the Festival of Trees decoration day last December.
