The Songs of Scotland

AlastairAlba gu brath
Glasgow Alastair McDonald is known and loved by folks in Scotland and around the world, through his many recordings and his television and radio appearances.

He has been involved in music most of his life, and his repertoire of styles includes folk, sciffle, Dixieland jazz, and songs of faith, love and challenge. However he is best known as a singer of Scottish traditional and contemporary folk music. Alastair's catalog is extensive, and features Scotland's finest love songs, historical ballads, Jacobite romps and some brilliant interpretations of Robert Burns songs.

His voice is clear, unpretentious and utterly convincing, and the arrangements of the songs are interesting and well conceived.

Alastair is also a well known songwriter; his moving lament "Culloden's Harvest" has become a contemporary Jacobite standard. He recently completed his latest album, Songs of the North.
